Renato Sanches commented on one of Mike Maignan’s Instagram posts in Italian, fueling transfer speculation linking him with a move to Milan in the summer.

The Rossoneri are preparing for life after Franck Kessié given that the 25-year-old is unlikely to extend his expiring contract at San Siro and Sanches is one of their primary targets to replace the Ivory Coast international.

Sky Sport Italia reported in January that Milan had made a late €25m bid to sign the former Bayern Munich starlet in the winter transfer window, but there was not enough time to negotiate with his club Lille. However, Sanches is still being heavily linked with a move to Milan and his latest activity on social media has fuelled speculation he could move to Italy.

Milan made late bid for LOSC midfielder Renato Sanches

Sanches commented on one of the most recent Instagram posts of his former teammate Maignan writing: ‘Andiamo’ (let’s go) adding a heart emoji. His comment triggered reactions from thousands of Milan fans who asked him to move to the Stadio Meazza at the end of the season. Sven Botman, another Milan target, also commented on Maignan’s post with a heart emoji.

Sanches’ contract with Lille expires in June 2023 and Arsenal have also been linked with signing the 24-year-old.

  1. I guess Botman and Sanches are the replacements for free agents Romagnoli and Kessié.

Well, can’t complain. They will be on less than half their wages (or what they want in Kessié’s case) and if everything goes as it did with the whole Dollarumma-Maignan situation then we’re gonna be more than OK.

  2. Maignan’s ex-teammates liked his post. That’s all this story is. Is does not mean they are signing for Milan.

We do need a CB and a CM, as well as a CF but it will be interesting to see if the transfer funds in the summer window allow for decent investment in all 3 positions. I have my doubts.

  3. @Milan Fan, on half their wages yes, but costing the club 50-60m in transfer fees. Kessie might be out of reach financially regardless, but why not resign Romagnoli on 3-3.5m per year as he requests? If it’s a 5 year contract this is a $17.5m outlay. Botman will cost 30m and his salary will be what? 3m? So a 45m outlay? I guess the thought is Botman could be resold for a profit if need be, but then when does that happen? After year 3 of his contract to avoid devaluation? I’m just not keen on the turnover. Might as wel renew Romagnoli and at 26 it will probably mean he will stay with the club until he retires or becomes unable to perform to standards in his early 30s. Spend the money elsewhere (STRIKER).

  4. I would like to see Romagnoli stay too, Vero. A pay cut yes but pay the man a decent amount. That would mean our defence is solid and know each other well. CM and CF are the areas that absolutely need a big signing. CB can wait as long as Kjaer recovers well.

  5. I love that guy
I liked him since he went on Germany
He is great player with a lot of vision
I remember last year he put Kesiess on pocket
    He is brilliant.
    I hope they get him

  6. Romagnoli has been playing much better recently. Actually I want both him and Kessié to stay, but it has to be at reasonable demands. Romagnoli can’t earn more than Kjaer and Tomori when he’s third choice. I even doubt Romagnoli would accept 3 or 3.5m and sitting on the bench as third choice when he’s earning 5.5 and is the captain right now.

It’s just not gonna happen. It’s all already decided imo.

  7. Maybe not Milan Fan but I’m hoping there is a deal to be done there. Mainly so the limited funds will be used in CM and CF positions where I believe it’s most needed.

Kessie is already gone as far as I’m concerned. Would love to see him stay too but that’s the one I think has already been decided, he’s already got a deal sorted elsewhere.

  8. @vero rossonero Romagnoli is the most expensive player of the squad at the moment at +12mil/year. I think his demand is 6mil net, which still is about 10mil/year cost for the club. Also his agent Raiola will ask for a piece of the pizza with a signing fee, like he did with Donnaruma. I like Romagnoli but he will be way too expensive to keep and will probably ene with a club that offers exactly the same as Milan but that does pay Raiola

  9. That is the problem Milan Fan. Nobody else is looking at Sanchez, but to be fair Botman could be a great move for the third biggest team in Italy. The other issue is what will Milan do when Rube and Inter strengthen with proven players. Sooner or later Rube will have to get their act together (midfield).
