According to the latest reports, Renato Sanches has not sustained a serious injury, but remains in doubt for this weekend against Udinese, while Lorenzo Pellegrini should start.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 17.00 GMT.

There were fears that Renato Sanches would be out for another stint after limping off during training with a muscular issue today.

However, the latest reports suggest that the medical staff found no lesions, so he may well be at least on the bench for that match.

More importantly, Pellegrini has been training regularly with the rest of the team for some time and is ready for his comeback in the starting XI.

The captain has been out of action since October 5 with a thigh injury, though he barely played all season due to these recurring muscular injuries that also kept him out for a couple of weeks in September.

Chris Smalling still seems no closer to a comeback, so he remains on the treatment table with Tammy Abraham and Marash Kumbulla, both recovering from anterior cruciate ligament surgery.
