Lazio boss Edy Reja admits it's better that Roma captain Francesco Totti won't be available for this weekend's eagerly anticipated derby match.

Totti was harshly red carded at the weekend after he appeared to slap Lecce's Ruben Oliveira.

He felt especially hard done by and had quite a tantrum about it, which could result in his ban being longer than one match.

"It's better for me that Totti doesn't play," Reja smiled.

"It's better for me that Totti doesn't play," Reja smiled.

"Roma are a great team and you'll see that they will climb back up the table, but hopefully after the derby.

"Anyway our secret is that in the dressing room you no longer hear the word 'I'. Because it's the group that counts, a little like what Mourinho, Ferguson and Capello do at their clubs.

"They inspire me a lot because I consider the group to be the essence of football."
