Edy Reja has opened the door to the possibility of remaining at Lazio, by suggesting that his resignation on Wednesday was not irrevocable.

The 66-year-old Coach handed in his notice in midweek, but was ordered by President Claudio Lotito to still take the team to Madrid for their Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Whilst the club rejected his resignation, Reja’s Press conference the same day left the door open for his departure. However, speaking hours before Lazio kicked off their European knockout match against Diego Simeone’s side in Spain, Reja suggested he might now stay.

“I never told the fans my resignation was irrevocable,” he stated briefly to Sky Sport Italia, whilst sporting director Igli Tare offered further hope.

“I think [he’ll stay] because the fact speaks that he is here with the team. But I think we need to talk more about the game today.”
