Edy Reja says fighting back from 2-0 down to win with 10 men was “like winning the derby” for Lazio.

The Biancocelesti seemed dead and buried after Abdoullay Konko’s red card on the half-hour allowed Cesena to go 2-0 up, but a late comeback secured their 3-2 victory.

“Winning a game like this is like winning the derby, even if that is always a particularly special feeling,” said the Coach.

“I am convinced that if we hadn’t conceded the third goal against Genoa last week, we would’ve won that too.

“At the start we were too worried at the back, seeing as our defence was pretty much all-new, then Libor Kozak’s introduction really helped us a lot. He only had 20 minutes in his legs and I couldn’t play him from the start.”

The fans have always been highly critical of Reja, but this evening they cheered his name at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I turn those over to the players, because they are giving us all great moments. Miroslav Klose never gives up and is becoming the glue between midfield and attack, really setting the example for everyone else. I didn’t realise he was so good at playing between the lines.

“Hernanes was also extraordinary. We’d need to build a statue in honour of this team.”
