“We are starting the campaign straight away against one of the best sides in Serie A,” said Reja in a Press conference.

“They reinforced a great deal over the summer and it’s a huge test for us. They are above all full of quality from the midfield up and in my view will fight for the top spots.

“We must therefore be focused and be ready for them when midfielders try to push up. It will be a tough exam, but we are coming off a positive period of form and did well in the Coppa Italia.

“I would like Atalanta to face Inter with character from the start and stay concentrated, then we can hit them with our best characteristics.

“German Denis will start up front.”

Luca Cigarini is the only real absentee in the Atalanta squad going to San Siro, but summer signing Martin de Roon is expected to feature.

Atalanta squad for Inter: Bassi, Bellini, Boakye, Brivio, Carmona, Cherubin, Conti, D’Alessandro, Denis, De Roon, Drame, Estigarribia, Giorgi, Gomez, Grassi, Kurtic, Masiello, Migliaccio, Monachello, Maxi Moralez, Pinilla, Radunovic, Raimondi, Sportiello, Stendardo
