“We had asked for the game to be postponed, especially considering the state of Rome,” confessed Reja.
“Thankfully we decided to leave earlier than planned, because there was a three-hour delay.
“We reached Genoa late on Thursday evening and had only 20 minutes to train after two days in which we couldn’t get on the training camp because it was covered in snow. This is no way to prepare for a match and consequently we’re not in great shape.”
Lazio also played against Milan on Wednesday evening, while Genoa’s trip to Atalanta was snowed off.
“Genoa will be fresher and in better condition, as we haven’t trained for two days. It’s also worth pointing out that Genoa play with great intensity on home turf and receive a great deal of support from their fans.
“They beat Napoli last week and so we must try to face this side with the same intensity.”
Miroslav Klose has recovered from an ankle problem and Lazio face Giuseppe Sculli, who returned to Genoa a year after he first transferred to the Olimpico.
“He was a ‘traitor,’ and I say that with absolute affection, because he played so well last Sunday and provided great assists, just as he did for us. He was also an important member of our team on a human level, as I had a great rapport with him. It’s a shame he left, but he is happier in ‘his’ Genoa.”
