The Aquile have had a rough week, losing to Inter in Serie A and Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-final, while Andre Dias also picked up a three-match ban when he was caught on camera punching Mark Van Bommel in the back of the head.
“It’s certainly not nice to lose, especially as we tried to take the initiative and believed we could get a result in both games,” said Reja.
“We have to keep that mentality in every match. Now we are without the Coppa Italia, but hopefully we can make up for it in Serie A and the Europa League.
“As for Dias, I hadn’t noticed anything from the bench, but obviously viewing the video it is clear what happened. Knowing Dias, I imagine he was certainly provoked, even if that does not justify the horrible gesture. We’ve all got to improve in terms of keeping our cool and maturity in a match situation.”
Chievo were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia midweek with a shock home defeat to Siena, so will be fired up for this tie.
“They are doing very well throughout the campaign, as they are a very organised and aggressive team. It is an extremely difficult fixture against a ferocious Chievo side, but I have faith in my men and we have the quality to trouble them.”
Lazio are still working on the transfer market and hope to secure Keisuke Honda from CSKA Moscow before the Tuesday evening deadline.
“I even read in newspapers that Djibril Cissè had already left us, which is simply not true, as he could play tomorrow. Honda is a player of international stature and we always welcome quality, but I am not aware of developments and only talk about players we have officially signed.”
