Pepe Reina has claimed tomorrow’s Champions League game against Club Brugge ‘is like a final’ and has revealed one thing that surprised him about Lazio.

The Biancocelesti are in race to qualify for the Champions League last-16 stage and a draw against Club Brugge at the Stadio OIimpico tomorrow would be enough to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

"It’s a special game, it tastes like a final, but we’ll have to have fun and do the things we try during the week," the former Napoli and Liverpool goalkeeper said at a press conference.

“They like to keep the ball possession and make you run, but we must have the humility to accept that the game will have more moments,” he added.

The Spaniard, who had joined Lazio in the summer, admitted one thing has surprised him.

"This is a club that want to make a further step in terms of quality and fight every year for the Champions League. Surely, what I like about the team is the compactness and the desire to never give up, the great mental strength.

“None of us is above anyone else. The team and the club come first compared to each footballer."

The 38-year-old was supposed to be Thomas Strakosha’s back-up but has already played nine games across all competitions.

"We all work to play as many games as possible. I have a good relationship with Thomas, we learn from each other. I’ve always said I came here to help both on and off the pitch, then we’ll see.

“Strakosha and I can play at any time. In addition, I think that Thomas is a phenomenal goalkeeper for the concentration that he puts in every training session.”
