Pepe Reina and Ashley Young have paid tribute to former Liverpool coach Gérard Houllier who died today aged 73.
The Englishman played 35 games with Aston Villa under the French coach in the 2010-11 campaign. He scored eight goals and registered 10 assists in his first and only season under Houllier.
“Rip Gerard, thank you for improving me. Condolences to your family. Great man not just manager,” Young wrote on Instagram.

Reina has never been coached by Houllier in his career but they knew each other as they are both Liverpool legends having won several trophies with the Reds.
The Lazio goalkeeper won one FA Cup, one League Cup, one Charity Shield and one UEFA Super Cup while in Liverpool whereas the French coach won the Treble in 2001, a UEFA Super Cup in the same year and a League Cup in the 2002-03 campaign.
