Sportitalia announced a deal was done on Friday evening and a two-year contract lined up for the former Milan defender.

“We first started talks at the end of June, when I decided to concentrate on Rami in the list of various players we could go for,” director of sport Taibi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“They were two very intense months of negotiations, but it really surged forward over the last week, when Mario De Rossi joined the mediation process.

“We have agreed personal terms with Rami and are waiting for him to arrive in Italy so he can undergo his medical. Only after that has been completed can we say that he is a Reggina player.”

The 34-year-old centre-back will be reunited with his former Milan teammate Jeremy Menez, who already signed for Reggina this summer.

Rami is a free agent following his brief experience in Russia with Sochi.
