Last night’s 2-1 defeat to Siena already caused huge controversy after Reggiana owner and baseball legend Mike Piazza said there was “corruption and incompetence.”
Now forward Altinier has been handed an eight-match ban, as “at the end of the game he went to the referee, protested vehemently, aimed reiterated and serious offensive phrases at him and made death threats.”
Reggiana teammates Bastrini (two games) and Manfrin (one game) were also banned, with the club fined €10,000 for fans throwing their seats on to the pitch.
Around 200 then staged a pitch invasion at the final whistle, damaging the Siena stadium.
Directors Magalini and Malpeli were suspended until September 30, while four members of the coaching staff received five-match bans, the chief medic was suspended for three games and the physiotherapist for five.
