Referees assigned for Inter-Barcelona and Ajax-Napoli

Slavko Vincic of Slovenia has been assigned to Inter’s Champions League showdown with Barcelona, while Ajax-Napoli goes to Francois Letexier of France.

Both games kick off on Tuesday evening and are the third fixtures in their groups, marking the midway stage of this phase.

Inter-Barcelona is particularly crucial, as these two teams are both on three points, behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich on six.

Vincic is the referee for this match at San Siro, with Tomasz Kalncik and Andraz Kovacic as his assistants.

The fourth official is Rade Obrenovic and the VAR team is Dutch, led by Pol van Boekel.

Vincic is a 42-year-old from Slovenia who officiated the Europa League Final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Glasgow Rangers last season.

His only Champions League group game this term was the contentious Tottenham 2-0 Olympique Marseille meeting, which saw Chancel Mbemba sent off for the French side after 47 minutes.

He crossed paths with Inter twice before, both draws against Saint-Etienne in the Europa League in 2014 and Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2020-21 Champions League, but it will be his first with Barcelona.

As for Napoli, their game against Ajax is given to French official Letexier, assisted by Cyril Mugnier, Mehdi Rahmouni and fourth official Jeremy Stinat.

The VAR is Polish referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski.

Letexier’s only club game involving Italy was Atalanta’s 1-0 Europa League win away to Bayer Leverkusen in March 2022.
