President of the Italian Referees Association Alfredo Trentalange was left with fractures after a car accident last night.
According to news agency ANSA, Trentalange was travelling with Serie C refereeing designator Maurizio Ciampi when their vehicle crashed on the A1 motorway near Frosinone.
Both men were taken to hospital and sustained some fractures, but fortunately the injuries seem to be relatively minor in the circumstances.
Trentalange is a former referee, now 64 years old, who retired from officiating in 2003 after 197 Serie A matches.
He worked for FIFA and UEFA as a refereeing observer and instructor, then was elected as the new President of the AIA (Italian Referees’ Association) in February 2021.
