Il Corriere dello Sport slammed referee Luca Pairetto as ‘arrogant’ and ‘incoherent’ after showing a questionable yellow card to Roma striker Tammy Abraham.
The English striker will be forced to the sidelines when Roma host Inter at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday after receiving his fifth yellow card in Serie A this season.
The last one that led to his suspension caused controversy on and off the pitch.
The former Chelsea striker accidentally bumped into Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg but was somehow punished with a yellow card.
Abraham complained both on and off the pitch, even asking the referee to check the contact with VAR, but that would go against the protocol.
” I was the one blocked and fouled,” Abraham wrote on social media after the match.
Italian sports papers were not impressed by Pairetto’s refereeing at the Stadio Dall’Ara. Il Corriere dello Sport was quite harsh and called the 37-year-old ‘arrogant’ and ‘incoherent.’
Both the Rome-based paper and La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted that the yellow card shown to Abraham was a wrong call and rated him 5/10 and 5.5.
Tuttosport, on the other hand, gave Pairetto a passing grade (6.5), writing that he ‘managed the game well.’
Instead of complaining about the last yellow card, make a conscious effort to not get the ones before. A forward has absolutely no reason to be getting booked. Lesson learned.
Exactly! he had to get FOUR before this one. The only person at fault here is Abraham.
So because Tammy had 4 yellows before that, it gives the ref the right to give him a yellow that would never be giving by any other ref or in any other league!! 🤦
People should reason before saying different things. Tammy 4 yellow card doesn’t mean you should issue him a card or he is doing inter a favour requested from him…

The referee deserved to be banned from officiating Serie A matches.
Never have I seen such poor refereeing in football league like Italy ,their décisions mostly questionable,how on earth Will a referee booked a player who’s been blocked n fouled like Tammy case, something needs to change in the system
