Simone Inzaghi called the decision not to chalk off Juventus’ winner over Inter ‘unacceptable’, something that has annoyed referee designator Gianluca Rocchi and the AIA.

The controversy stems from a possible Adrien Rabiot handball in the build-up to Filip Kostic’s goal in Juventus’ 1-0 win over Inter on Sunday night, a moment that continues to cause debate amongst fans.

Rocchi is considering releasing the audio of the conversation held between on-pitch referee Daniele Chiffi and VAR official Paolo Mazzoleni during the check, hoping to quell the debate.

As reported by Sport Mediaset, Rocchi and the AIA – Italian Referees’ Association – are unimpressed with Inzaghi’s complaints about Inter’s defeat to Juventus, believing the decision made was neither ‘unacceptable’ nor showed ‘a lack of respect’.

The referee designator believes the length of time the VAR check took to be a sign of the respect given to the call, and that it wasn’t a serious error considering the difficulty of judging the situation.
