Red Star Belgrade and Vojvodina both wore special jerseys in memory of Sinisa Mihajlovic in today’s match, as the Serie A legend played for both clubs in his career.

Mihajlovic spent most of his life in Italy, as a player and then a coach, losing his battle with an aggressive form of leukaemia in December 2022.

There have been tributes at all his former clubs, including Sampdoria, Lazio, Roma, Milan and Bologna.

So when Crvena Zvezda – the local name for Red Star Belgrade – and Vojvodina played against each other today at the Marakana in Belgrade, they took this opportunity to jointly remember Mihajlovic.

There is a special patch on the jerseys remembering his time playing for the clubs, famously winning the European Cup in 1991 when Red Star Belgrade beat Olympique Marseille on penalties in Bari.

It was after that triumph that he moved to Roma in the summer of 1992, beginning his Serie A experiences.
