Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic scored a hat-trick against Spezia to pass Luca Toni and Gabriel Batistuta and is now aiming for Kurt Ronald Hamrin’s record from 1960.

The Serbian striker was decisive against Spezia, as he scored a hat-trick in the 3-0 win on Sunday and helped the Viola claim another three points at the Artemio Franchi.

Highlights: Fiorentina 3-0 Spezia

It was his eighth goal in the League, one less than Ciro Immobile at the top of the Capocannoniere list and has started breaking records at Fiorentina.

He has scored 25 goals in 2021 and thus beaten two previous Fiorentina heroes, who managed to score at least 23 goals in a calendar year.

The first was Batistuta in 1998, before Toni scored 24 times in 2006. Vlahovic is now two goals behind Hamrin’s record.

The Swedish striker spent nine years in Florence between 1958 and 1967 and scored 27 goals in 1960 and 25 the year before.

Vlahovic has eight games to score at least three goals to help him surpass Hamrin and claim the record.

  1. The serie A of now cannot be compared of that with Batistuta which was probably the best league of the world in that time…

  2. It’s not the same quality Serie A of the Batigol era but this guy is just 21. What a future he could have!

  3. @Arthur Linger. Exactly. Plus in football goals matter over a season (which always spans two calendar years), not in a calendar year.
