Real Madrid winger Asensio still in Milan’s sights

Milan are still reportedly keen on signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, especially after missing out on Lille talent Sven Botman.

The Rossoneri failed to match the figures requested by the French side and eventually the Dutch centre back couldn’t wait any longer, deciding to finally accept Newcastle United’s offer. The Milanese club are now considering a change in transfer market strategy as the window’s opening approaches.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Milan director Paolo Maldini knows that a quality playmaker is needed this summer and he’s still keeping a close eye on Asensio’s situation with Real Madrid.

Los Blancos want around €30m for the 26-year-old Spanish forward, whose contract expires in Madrid next year, and the player himself wants a salary of around €6m, figures that seem fairly incompatible with the Rossoneri’s current strategy.

Asensio scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 42 appearances across all competitions last season under Carlo Ancelotti.
