Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Milan’s ‘new Paolo Maldini’ Mattia De Sciglio.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Ancelotti has told his directors to make a bee-line for the young full-back.

Having turned 21 in October, De Sciglio grew up in the Milan youth academy and already has eight senior Italy caps, while he’s expected to be in the World Cup squad.

Often referred to as the heir to Maldini, he can play right-back or left-back, plus right or left midfield when needed.

He has suffered from injury problems this season and is out for several weeks after Emiliano Insua’s horror tackle in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
