Real Madrid are increasingly likely to keep Napoli target James Rodriguez, unless they get Bruno Fernandes for €70m from Sporting CP.

The Partenopei have been pushing for James all summer, as he returned from a two-season loan at Bayern Munich seemingly without much chance of playing time.

Napoli would only offer to take him on loan with option to buy, whereas Real Madrid wanted €42m.

Atletico Madrid also seem to have lost interest, while at the same time reports from Spain suggest Zinedine Zidane is growing more impressed with the Colombian in training.

After injuries throughout the squad, keeping James Rodriguez is now more likely than ever.

The only alternative, claim AS, is if Real Madrid meet the €70m asking price for Sporting CP creative midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

If they achieve that swoop, then James can be allowed to leave with Napoli still waiting.
