Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race to sign River Plate starlet Julian Alvarez who has been linked with a move to Serie A.

The 21-year-old has scored 16 goals in 17 appearances in the Argentinean Superliga this season, attracting interest from many Serie A clubs.

According to Sportitalia, Juventus representatives have already arrived in Argentina to scout the striker and consider whether or not to pay his release clause.

There are mixed reports regarding the player’s release fee, which is €20m according to Calciomercato.com and €25m for Sportitalia.

However, according to transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Real Madrid have recently made contact with the player’s entourage.

Milan, Fiorentina and Roberto De Zerbi’s Shakhtar Donetsk have also been mentioned as possible destinations for the 21-year-old.

La Viola’s director Nicolas Burdisso is on excellent terms with River Plate’s directors and the Tuscans are also preparing an offer for January.

Fiorentina could sell Dusan Vlahovic in January after that President Rocco Commisso announced the striker won’t sign a contract extension at the Artemio Franchi.
