Reports in Spain suggest Luka Modric has received a proposal from Juventus as a free agent if he leaves Real Madrid this summer.

The midfielder turns 37 in September, but proved with his spectacular outside of the boot assist against Chelsea in the Champions League that he is still one of the best in the world.

His contract with Real Madrid is due to expire on June 30 and there seems to be no rush to extend at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, Modric has received two offers for the summer, one from Qatar and the other from Juventus.

The Bianconeri have a crisis in midfield and badly need an injection of creativity, something Arthur Melo has not provided since joining from Barcelona.

Modric would be an ideal combination of class and experience, as well as being a free agent.

The Croatia international has been at Real Madrid since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

  1. This would be an excellent addition. The guy is a freak. He has insane fitness levels and still has a surprising amount of pace for his age. He’s still got a couple more top level seasons in him.

  2. I’m sure they are thinking, another Pirlo situation. But at that age a physical drop could happen overnight. That’s the risk. But if a free transfer, less of a risk. Italian teams are still having to bargain hunt.

  3. Very unlikely to happen, he’s 36 and close to renewing for one more season with Real.
He also said he likes to end his career in Croatia.
Pirlo was 32 when he came to Juve, 4 years make a huge difference.

  4. Would be a bad decision. Pirlo and Modric are way different players. Pirlo didnt run as much as Modric and had Vidal, Marchisio, and Pogba to do the running for him. Id say this is Modric’s last good season.

  5. So now Juve wants to sign 36 year olds….so sad that they would rather buy a player nearing the end of his career and will be 37 by the time he plays for them than actually investing in youngsters the way Barca did with Pedri and Gavi, Juventus is going down a dark path with Allegri, so sad to see a once mighty team reduced to one that scavenges for players who have like 20% left on their battery, no offense to Modric he’s an outstanding players…my anger is directed at Juve

  6. Modric is too smart to make that kind of a move and to be fair any move away from Madrid is a step down to any club. PhD Max will be salivating at this prospect as he is nearly the same age but Luka is too smart to fall into the trap of learning the scripture of Feng Shui Max.
