Nicolo Barella showed signs of his true qualities in Inter’s confident 2-0 win over Salernitana.

The 25-year-old Italian midfielder has not been in the best form this campaign, being one of many to struggle during the Nerazzurri’s sluggish start to the season, but recent performances suggest that he’s returning to his proper level once again. Barella scored a goal and provided an assist in Inter’s win over Salernitana yesterday and received praise from the Italian press.

La Gazzetta dello Sport asked if “the real Barella is coming back?”, suggesting that “the clues are there”, with his performances against both Barcelona and Salernitana showing positive signs.

Corriere dello Sport also praised Barella, drawing attention to his attitude on the pitch and his ability to change the game, noting “Inter’s dynamo. And finally with a positive attitude towards his teammates.”

Tuttosport agreed with these assessments and felt that the 25-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch, highlighting how “He invents another breakthrough like in Barcelona, but this time he also adds a winning dribble from … his knee.”
