Inter and Juventus transfer target Timo Werner is not yet a Chelsea player, assures RB Leipzig director Oliver Mintzlaff. ‘He has not activated the clause and we haven’t had any contact.’
The forward has a release clause worth €60m, which favourites Liverpool were unwilling to pay, allowing Chelsea to step in over the last few days.
Multiple reports stated the deal was done, but RB Leipzig director Mintzlaff told Sky Sports Deutschland that was premature.

“The important thing was to extend his contract, which we did last summer, and naturally he has this clause that we added in so that he has the opportunity to make the next step.
“Now Timo is in control of the situation, not us. So far, he has not activated the clause, nor have we had any contact for a transfer, including with Chelsea.
“Consequently, we have nothing to announce. Timo Werner is an RB Leipzig player. He signalled a few weeks ago that he was working on a transfer. So far, nothing has happened.”
