Former Cagliari coach Massimo Rastelli says he’s ‘not surprised’ by Inter midfielder Nicolò Barella’s impressive performances with the Nerazzurri.

Barella moved from the Rossoblu to Inter last summer and has played 20 Serie A matches for the Nerazzurri, contributing one goal and four assists in the process.

Rastelli, who was sacked by Cremonese for the second time in March this year, has claimed his former pupil at the Sardegna Arena has the ‘character’ to shoulder the pressure at San Siro.

‘I’m not surprised,” Rastelli told Radio Sportiva. “He has always shown great maturity and personality.

“At Inter he has shown how important it is to have the character to wear such an important shirt.”

Barella has been capped 13 times by Italy and has scored three times for the Azzurri so far.
