Juve went on to win 3-0 with Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain goals.

“The result was too heavy considering the first half performances,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played very well at the start, with quality trajectories and high pressing. We could’ve taken the lead, but Juve punished us at the first distraction. The penalty was the chance to equalise, then on the stroke of half-time we were really naïve to allow the second goal on the counter.”

There was tension over the last few days with Marco Borriello suddenly announcing he would leave to join Spal.

“It was a bolt from the blue, but at least Marco was honest and we never had a problem. He lacked the fire in the belly, called the director and President to seek a change of scenery and logically we didn’t call him up.

“We must replace a striker who scored 20 goals per season. Leonardo Pavoletti? We will intervene and he is certainly an important forward.”

Rastelli also confirmed Cagliari are in advanced negotiations with Fenerbahce for 29-year-old full-back Van Der Wiel.

“He is an important player who has been at big clubs, so has the quality and experience to elevate our level. He will help us grow in terms of character and to believe in ourselves more.

“We’ve got solid foundations, so adding players with charisma and experience is helpful.”

Van Der Wiel only joined Fenerbahce a year ago as a free agent from Paris Saint-Germain.
