Coach Massimo Rastelli and his Cagliari players celebrated their promotion to Serie A. “We deserved this.”
The Sardinians only needed a point to be sure, but conquered Bari 3-0 at the Stadio San Nicola.
“It’s thoroughly deserved and the fact we ended with a superlative performance against a great team just made it better,” Coach Rastelli told Sky Sport Italia.

The Sardinians only needed a point to be sure, but conquered Bari 3-0 at the Stadio San Nicola.
“It’s thoroughly deserved and the fact we ended with a superlative performance against a great team just made it better,” Coach Rastelli told Sky Sport Italia.
“We deserved this. These lads showed great qualities and now it is only right they get the chance to celebrate.”
President Tommaso Giulini noted “the last 12 months have been ones of suffering. As favourites it was even more difficult, but we achieved something extraordinary.
“We lost important players along the way to injury, so this promotion is dedicated to Daniele Dessena and Federico Melchiorri.”
Nicola Murru is one of the home-grown Sardinian players in the squad.
“It’s incredible, I still can’t believe it. I tell the fans we’ll see you at the airport to celebrate!”
This is a young team, but one with some very experienced figures, above all goalkeeper Marco Storari.
“I am proud to be the captain of these lads. We’ve done so much, we deserved it and now we’re going to enjoy it,” said ex-Juventus goalkeeper Storari.
