The new Italy international Giacomo Raspadori said he always tried to get the ‘jerseys of my idol’ in Serie A. ‘Like Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez of Inter’.

The Sassuolo forward was a surprise inclustion in Roberto Mancini’s squad for Euro 2020 and the Azzurri CT said he hopes the young striker will ‘emulate Paolo Rossi’.

The 21-year-old revealed he has a passion for football shirts and told Cronache di Spogliatoio that he collected shirts during the 2020-21 season.

Raspadori played 27 times in the League, playing at least once against all the top seven teams in the top flight.

“I have received several jerseys in recent years. I have always tried to get those of my idols,” he said. “Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez of Inter, some of Roma, Fiorentina, Benevento and many others.

“A passion that I tried to cultivate regardless of the colour of the kit. Of course, I also got some of my teammates at Sassuolo, they couldn’t be outdone.”

Raspadori’s performances with the Neroverdi towards the end of the season, five goals in the last 10 games, has earned him a place in the Italy squad ahead of Euro 2020 before he has even played one game for the senior national team.
