Giacomo Raspadori was Italy’s best player against England, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while Nicolò Barella was not up to his standards.

The Azzurri sealed a 1-0 win over the Three Lions last night and have a chance to win their group by beating Marco Rossi’s Hungary in Budapest on Monday.

Raspadori was the man of the match thanks to his wonderful goal in the second half. Gazzetta dello Sport’s Fabio Licari admits in his Pagelle that Raspa’s performance hadn’t been particularly convincing until he scored.

“Perhaps it was his worst performance with the Azzurri, but his great goal changed everything. Now he needs consistency,” wrote the journalist.

The Napoli striker was rated 7/10, same as Gigio Donnarumma, Leo Bonucci and Federico Dimarco. Nicolò Barella, on the other hand, was Italy’s worst player with a rating of 5/10.

Gazzetta noticed the same ‘mood’ he has had at Inter lately although the Nerazzurri midfielder ‘always puts in full commitment.’

However, his passes were often ‘not accurate’ and the 25-year-old ‘struggled to find the best position on the pitch.’ Manolo Gabbiadini was the other Italy player without a passing grade and got 5.5/10 after coming off the bench in the second half.
