England international and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has sent his best to Scott McTominay, who officially moved to Napoli on a permanent transfer on deadline day. ‘Good luck in Italy my friend.’

Rashford and McTominay have spent many years playing in the same youth teams in Manchester and have both been on United’s books since the early 2000s. They have also amassed over 250 appearances each for the Red Devils’ first team.

“It’s been a long journey … Good luck in Italy my friend,” Rashford wrote in a farewell  message.

McTominay joins Napoli from Manchester United

The United academy graduate moved to Napoli on a permanent deal on Friday evening at a cost of around €30m with a 10% sell-on clause also included. He has signed a four-year contract, running until the summer of 2028.

He is one of three transfers that Napoli completed in the final 48 hours of the Serie A transfer window.

The Partenopei also signed former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, and added fellow Scotland international Billy Gilmour a few hours before the deadline on Friday evening.

  1. Would have been good business for United to swap Rashford and Osimhen. United would at least have obtained a player who wants to run and try to play football, instead United are left with the lazy Rashford as back up to Garnacho
