Milan are in talks with Marcus Rashford and Manchester United over a potential loan deal this month, and according to Gazzetta, the Rossoneri can follow two pathways.

Milan are moving quickly to sign Manchester United striker Rashford in the January transfer window, but the Serie A giants must cope with a few issues in negotiations.

As reported by Gazzetta Sport, the biggest obstacle to getting the deal done is financial.

Contrary to what Corriere dello Sport reported on Wednesday, Gazzetta claims it’s still unsure whether Rashford is open to taking a pay cut.

Nevertheless, this is a necessary condition to complete the transfer.

Rashford earns around €14m net at Old Trafford, including image rights. According to Gazzetta, Milan would need to pay at least €3m in wages for the second part of the campaign.

The Rossoneri have already proposed a loan deal to Manchester United, including an option to buy, and won’t consider a permanent transfer for the English forward.

However, if Milan sign Rashford on loan with an option to buy, they’d need to negotiate the player’s salary beyond the summer, while if Rashford joins Milan on a dry loan deal, the Rossoneri only need to negotiate the striker’s salary until the end of the season.

This would speed up negotiations between the parties, but the Rossoneri would not be guaranteed to keep the player at San Siro beyond the summer.

Rashford has also been linked with other Serie A clubs, including Juventus and Como.
