Andrea Ranocchia was pleased with his senior Italy debut, above all the second half against Romania.
“I think it was a good enough performance in the circumstances, especially when we poured forward to get the result,” said the Genoa defender.
He was one of four debutants in the starting XI and only two played the full 90 minutes, Ranocchia and Federico Balzaretti, as Cristian Ledesma and Alessandro Diamanti were replaced at half-time.

“It's true that we struggled in the first half, but found our positions after the break and got back on track.”
The evening in Austria was marred by racist chanting against Mario Balotelli, but those on the field say they were not affected.
“I didn't hear the boos as I was so focused on the match. Mario didn't say anything either, so he seemed fine.”
