Ranocchia hails Italy progress

Andrea Ranocchia has expressed his delight at the way the Italian national side are progressing under Cesare Prandelli.

The Azzurri maintained their grip on Euro 2012 qualifying Group C with a 3-0 win over Estonia in a game where they again impressed.

"We played good football and kept a clean sheet, while we kept pushing to the end," the Inter stopper noted.

"The full-backs push forward, but also do very well when we lose possession. It is certainly a step forward in terms of qualifying.

"I came here into the national squad for the first time in November and the group has certainly grown since then.

"We really get along both on and off the field. I'm sure we'll improve further in the next year."

Ranocchia, who joined Inter from Genoa in January, played alongside Giorgio Chiellini at the back last night.
