The Blucerchiati coach spoke to Radio Anch’io Sport after the 1-1 draw with Milan on Saturday but also about the situation at Juventus, where McKennie, Arthur and Dybala were left out of the squad for violating the coronavirus protocol last week.

“I excuse the Juventus players because they are always together,” Ranieri said. “It’s certainly wrong, but I wouldn’t have excluded them.”

Sampdoria held Milan to a draw and finished the match with 10 men after Adrien Silva’s sending off in the second half.

“It was too bad we played with one less player in the end,” Ranieri said. “I told all the booked players to not make any rough challenges.

“I’m sorry that he, who is very experienced, made this mistake. I’m not saying I understand it, but we have to accept it.”
