Sampdoria’s Antonio Candreva trained apart from the rest of the team yesterday with Claudio Ranieri who is reportedly waiting for the player’s apology.

The Italian winger was left out of Sampdoria’s squad list for the game against Hellas Verona due to disagreements with the coach.

Ranieri said after the game won at the Bentegodi that he doesn’t know if the situation will be solved, adding that they took a “pause for reflection.”

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there isn’t only one reason behind Candreva’s exclusion.

The player is reportedly “not in sync” with Sampdoria’s spirit.

“The team needs the same humility and force of self-denial that leaded the group to escaping the relegation zone last season,” the report claims.

“His behaviour may not have been the right one and Candreva refused a confrontation with the coach who wanted to speak about it.”

Candreva shared a message on social media to support his teammates before the Hellas Verona clash but it was not enough for Ranieri who is now waiting for his apology.

Candreva will resume trainings with the rest of the team only after admitting his mistakes.

He joined Sampdoria from Inter on loan with option to buy last summer with the Blucerchiati who have time until February to make his move permanent.

Theoretically, the player could return to Inter at the end of the season, but he is not part of Antonio Conte’s plan and the Nerazzurri would prefer a permanent move to Sampdoria.
