Claudio Ranieri was reportedly offered the Monza job following the dismissal of Giovanni Stroppa but he turned it down.

The newly promoted side decided to dismiss the 54-year-old Italian coach, who got them promoted to Serie A after his one-year in charge, due to their terrible start to the season. Monza currently sit rock bottom of the Serie A table, picking up only one point from their opening six matches.

As reported by Monza-News, before the appointment of Raffaele Palladino, Ranieri was contacted and offered the head coach role. The former Sampdoria and Leicester City coach refused the job, pushing Monza to promote Primavera coach Palladino instead.

Ranieri has been out of work since his dismissal from Watford at the end of January. He only oversaw 14 matches before being shown the door, averaging 0.5 points per match.

Before that, the former Leicester City coach spent almost two years working for Sampdoria, overseeing 71 games in total.
