Ranieri, who won the Premier League title with Leicester City back in 2016 spoke to media ahead of Sampdoria’s away clash against Crotone.

“It’s very sad for me, the Super League is so bad,” the coach said.

“The Leicester story was something special, and we’d lose these stories. It’s not just about football, I remember the feeling between Indian and English people celebrating Leicester City’s title together.

“That achievement with Leicester is the first thing I thought about when I heard the news, regardless of I was part of it.

“That’s what football is about: an underdog can beat a big club, that’s the essence of sport.

“What they are trying to do is wrong. Maybe they are doing it to cover all their debts? It’s not fair for football. I hope UEFA will stop them.”
