“They asked me about Ibrahimovic ahead of the match against Milan, I said that he’s our Ibra and he fully demonstrated it at San Siro.”

At half-time of the 1-1 draw between Samp and the Diavolo, Ranieri and Milan goalkeeper Donnarumma hugged, and the coach explained why.

“He was back there asking for fouls, free kicks and yellow cards,” Ranieri said. “From the bench, I yelled at him: ‘We’ll give you the whistle!’

“Then at the end of the first half we hugged and made up.”
