Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri believes Andrea Petagna and Hirving Lozano ‘changed the game’ but insists he liked his team.

The Italian striker and the Mexican winger came off the bench in the second half and scored one goal each to allow Napoli claim a 2-1 win over Sampdoria.

“It’s a pity, we should have closed the game earlier,” Ranieri told Sampdoria’s official TV.

“We played a superb first half and I am sorry to leave with a defeat because we played a good football.

“I knew Petagna and Lozano would come in, now we need to react and gain some points in the next three games before Christmas. We are nod discouraged.”

Ranieri, Fabio Quagliarella and Massimo Ferrero visited Maradona’s mural in the Quartieri Spagnoli yesterday.

“Honestly, I was not thinking about Maradona before the game, we visited the mural yesterday, this city will always remember this great champion.”
