Inter head into Saturday’s fixture at San Siro looking for what would be only their third home win of the League campaign.

Speaking to the assembled Press ahead of the weekend encounter with Delio Rossi’s Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”5″>Fiorentina, Ranieri took questions on the mood in the camp, whether the club is still in crisis and if there are reasons to excuse the recent poor results.

“When things go wrong you must strive to see things in a positive light to ‘rebalance’ the situation. We are in a moment where help from the fans is important. United we will come out of it.

“Our strong performances should be at home, but despite all our efforts we are failing. We’re working hard and the fans are not abandoning us. In times of need we need the fans.”

It was then put to Ranieri that the various formations he has used in recent weeks are contributing to the continued poor form, disorientating the players.

“It might be a good excuse. In modern football it is always changing – we have changed little in terms of formation and we were forced to change because we have not had all the players available.

“This team knows how to change formation and we must not make excuses. We’re missing the goal, this is true, but we must be more careful. The boys cannot be criticised for anything against CSKA, the performance was positive, despite the result.”

Ranieri was asked if he expected this situation two-and-a-half months into his reign.

“I was not expecting anything. When you succeed, the situation is always different, but I’m proud to be a part of this family, the family of Inter.

“[Rumours of President Massimo Moratti’s anger] do not bother me because we speak. He is sorry for the situation, disappointed, but ready to encourage us and to believe that the team will react.

“He is neither mad nor negative, the team understand this at the moment, he is around us and I thank him because it is important for the players.”

The team’s performances in the Champions League have in general been viewed as better than those in the League.

“Calcio has no logic. Arsenal won their League unbeaten but in the Champions League could not progress past the second round. They then sold some of their champions and then reached the final, that they lost. Calcio is just this.

“In Europe we had a good run despite losing the first and last games. In the Champions League we are freer and more focused.

“In the field you will never see a team that does not fight. As long as this is the case, do not worry.

“The players know [that the treble is behind them] and they are giving everything. In the past there were positive situations where there are none now. Now we are against the wind. We must be calm, attack and defend in an orderly manner.

“When I arrived I said that this Inter has a future.”

Wesley Sneijder again misses the matchday squad for the Fiorentina match, but Ranieri was optimistic that it is nothing more than caution.

“It is a choice dictated by prudence. The doctor and I thought that after the first workout with the team that it was better to preserve him.”
