“Verona were more determined at the beginning and I had to make changes, because we were basically playing into Verona’s hands and not doing what we had prepared during the week.”
Samp climb to 39 points and have practically secured their Serie A safety, moving to within two points of Verona.
Nonetheless, his future at the club is far from secure, amid reports of disagreements with President Massimo Ferrero.
“We talked today before the game. I won’t tell you what we said, that is our business. I’d like us to get along. I am happy at Sampdoria and would love to stay. Otherwise, I’ll come to Sky as a pundit and take one of your jobs!
“I think the intention is to continue together, but give us time to talk and work things out.”
