Ranieri hopes for Roma comeback

Claudio Ranieri's Roma looked to be out of the Scudetto race last season, but he hopes “for a similar comeback run of results.”

The Giallorossi take on Bologna tomorrow afternoon and are fresh from knocking Juventus out of the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

“I would like there to be some analogies between the fight back to the top of the table we saw last year and the recovery we are showing now,” said the Coach.

The Giallorossi take on Bologna tomorrow afternoon and are fresh from knocking Juventus out of the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

“I would like there to be some analogies between the fight back to the top of the table we saw last year and the recovery we are showing now,” said the Coach.

“I hope for a similar comeback run of results, but we cannot predict the future. We can only do everything that we can to push the balance to our side.”

There is also the added pressure of a potential takeover bid from American investors.

“My lads are not concentrating on off the field matters and must continue that way. Roma are having a great season and we'll have another very tough test against Bologna tomorrow,” continued Ranieri.

“The efforts of the Coppa Italia in Turin used up a lot of energy and we certainly played well, although someone like Jeremy Menez has talent and only gave 50 per cent in that game. He can do much better and he knows it.”

Francesco Totti is fit and expected to start, having missed the Juventus game due to a ban.

If the club is taken over by new owners, then Ranieri's own future is up for debate.

“I never accept an offer without reading it thoroughly. It depends on the proposal. Having said that, even if there are higher wages elsewhere, I still choose Roma above the other options. Roma are Roma.”
