Udinese President Franco Soldati has praised new signing Mathias Ranegie after the Swedish striker scored against Milan.
The former Malmo forward crashed in a header in the Zebrette's 2-1 win over the Rossoneri yesterday, marking his first Serie A start with a goal.
“Ranegie was the best player on the field,” Soldati told Tuttomercatoweb. “We were following him for some time, and although he arrived on the last day of the transfer window, he can't be considered a last minute purchase.”
Soldati is sure the club have turned a corner with the Milan result and the 1-1 draw against Russians Anzhi three days prior.
“We have already seen some improvements in the team, especially against Anzhi in the Europa League, but the integration of the newcomers is gradually taking place.
“We expect our other purchases – Allan, Maicosuel and Andrea Lazzari – to grow in a similar way shortly.”
The administrator then commented on Milan's performance, and the poor start to the season the San Siro side have made.
“In the summer they had to deal with departures of some important players. During the first quarter of an hour, they put us in some difficulty. Personally, I think they are a team that is growing, and just need some time to integrate their new acquisitions.”
Soldati then confirmed that Francesco Guidolin's position as Coach is safe.
“He is absolutely the centre of the team. That has never been in question. The philosophy of the Pozzo family is to never put into question the position of the Coach, unless the situation is completely unmanageable.
“With Guidolin, we have never gotten to this point. He is the linchpin of our project.”
