The former Valencia defender has been linked with a move away from San Siro, with Lyon thought to be among those interested.

“I’ll take a decision based on Euro 2016 and my career,” Rami explained in an interview with L’Equipe TV.

“I’ll wait, I’m patient, I still have two years left on my contract with Milan, but my main goal is to find a team which will allow me to play in the Champions League.

“Lyon? Why not.”

However, on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon the defender painted a very different picture.

"I got back from vacation yesterday and today saw lots of false stories about me. Forza Milan!"
