Mino Raiola reveals Matthijs de Ligt was close to joining Bayern Munich and warns Juventus about the Bavarians’ potential interest in Paul Pogba.
The French midfielder will see his contract with Manchester United expire at the end of the season and Juventus are among the clubs interested in signing him as a free agent in the summer.
However, competition to sign the French star will be fierce, with many top clubs interested, including Bayern Munich.
According to the player’s agent Mino Raiola, the Bavarians are the only German club that can afford his signing.
“We have many offers for him, including a contract extension. We’ll see what’s best for him,” Raiola told Sport 1.
Have they received an offer from Bayern Munich?
“Not yet, but maybe it will come tomorrow,” he said.
“You have to ask Bayern. We deal with everything, but Bayern are the only ones who could afford him. I think we’ll know more in two months.
“The only German club that could do that [signing Pogba] is Bayern Munich. But even they can’t get close to Paul’s salary. Germans are at the bottom of the international salary pyramid.”
Raiola also claimed that Juventus defender De Ligt was close to moving to the Allianz Arena.
“Do you actually know that we almost brought Matthijs de Ligt to Munich?” he said.
“We held positive talks and it’s a shame it didn’t work out in the end.”

De Ligt joined Juventus from Ajax in an €85m deal in 2019.
The 22-year-old’s contract expires in June 2024 and, from the summer, he will have a €150m release clause included in his contract.
Last but not least, Raiola discussed the future of Erling Haaland, who has no chances to move to Serie A in the future.
Mino Raiola on Haaland’s situation: "He will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barca, City – these are the big clubs he can go to. We all knew, also #BVB, that the time will come.“ When? „Maybe this summer, maybe next. But there is a big chance he‘ll leave this summer.“ @SPORT1

“He will take the next step. Bayern, Real, Barca, City,” Raiola said.
“These are the big clubs he can go to. The time will come and Borussia Dortmund also know it. When? Maybe this summer, maybe next. But there is a big chance he’ll leave this summer.”
The Italian agent revealed that Haaland looked for him because he is a huge fan of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“I haven’t picked a single player so far,” he said.
“The players are looking for me. They want us to help and ask for advice. Then we sit down and see what goes on. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes no. Sometimes I cancel too.
“He [Haaland] has always been a huge fan of Zlatan. We have a mutual friend who brought us together.
“We met, had a drink, talked for five minutes and shook hands. Erling wanted, I wanted. I had only seen him on videos before and immediately said: He suits me, he’s crazy.”
