Mino Raiola reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of Erling Haaland’s idols and claims he ‘can’t take the Ballon d’Or seriously’ because the Milan striker has never won it.

Raiola provided the latest transfer updates on some of his star clients, including Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland.

He said that only four clubs can afford to sign the Norway striker who has Zlatan Ibrahimovic as one of his idols.

Raiola also discussed his view on the Ballon d’Or.

“I can’t take this seriously,” he admitted.

“Zlatan always complains because he never won it. In my opinion, Lewandowski should have won this year and Zlatan should have won too.

“Quality does not always prevail in a democracy,” Raiola continued. “Emotions and feelings play a role in the choice.”

Leo Messi won the seventh Ballon d’Or in his career last week ahead of Lewandowski and Chelsea and Italy Regista Jorginho.

Ibrahimovic has never finished in the top three in his career.

Ibrahimovic aims to join Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the ‘club of 300’

The Swede returned for a second spell at Milan in January 2020 and has scored 13 appearances across all competitions with the Rossoneri this season.

If he finds the net against Udinese tomorrow, he will become the third player to score at least 300 goals in the best European leagues in the 2000s, after Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

  1. And we can’t take Raiola serious when talking about football, considering he only has an interest in lining his own pockets at the expense of clubs, fans and even his own players…

  2. @Vinnie.

If that was the case, then top players wouldn’t be working with him. It’s a supply and demand market. Those who want to pay the wages and agents fees do it, and will continue to do it. It wasn’t long ago that people like jorge mendes would be lauded as ‘super agents’ when brokering big transfers. Raiola somehow is an easy target. Funny thing is, he doesn’t care. You cry whilst he does his job, is generally loved by his clients and is very good at what he does.

  3. I hate to agree with Raiola, but it’s true that Messi winning the recent Ballon D’Or over Lewandowski & Jorginho was ridiculous.

  4. What people are forgetting is that the Ballon D’Or has never been about Scoring goals, that’s what the Golden Boot is for. TBH, Messi bested Lewandowski in everway possible excluding goal Scoring

  5. Of Robert was up there, but you cannot ignore the fact that Messi too performed extremely well in the year.
Some people like to deny him (Messi) what he deserves based on the fact that he has already won it many times but things shouldn’t work that way, the Algentine deserves to get what he worked for no matter how many times he has won it in the past.

For Jorginio, I think much as he won both the Champions League and Euro Cup, the Statistics and his influence or role in those victories wasn’t that much to warrant him winning the Ballon D’Or.

Ibrahimovic is a really good player, but am just here wondering what he has done or achieved in the game that can warrant his win over those who have won it mostly in the last decade.

There are players like Iniesta, Xavi, Riberi, Roben, Thery Henry and others who were so good in their prime but never won it simply because they were competing with guys who had extremely played, performed and won well.
