Agent Mino Raiola is in hospital in Milan under observation, but a statement insists he was not rushed in for emergency surgery.

The reports emerged in La Gazzetta dello Sport’s online edition this afternoon, claiming Raiola was hurried into the San Raffaele hospital and underwent an emergency operation.

Raiola’s official social media account has now released a statement clarifying the situation.

“Mino Raiola is undergoing ordinary medical checks that require anastesia. All was planned and no emergency surgery happened.”

Super agent Raiola in hospital after emergency surgery

Born in Italy and moving with his family to the Netherlands at an early age, Raiola is the most famous agent in modern football and certainly one of the richest, if not the most highly-paid in the business.

His clients are in Europe’s biggest clubs and command some of the biggest transfer fees, including Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Matthijs de Ligt, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Erling Braut Haaland.

The 54-year-old was in Milan for work purposes during the January transfer window.

His residence for many years has been Monte Carlo.

  1. It is agents like him that have helped ruin the sport. He doesn’t care about his clients, or the teams, only about how much he can extort from the clubs.

  2. @Villarusso. clearly your parents didn’t teach you any manners whatsoever. you’ve chosen an article about the well being of a human being who’d had to go to hospital to vent frustration at agents? Why are FI allowing these comments?
