Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi promises to do “everything to speed up the process” of building the Stadio della Roma.

The Giallorossi have finally been given permission to start building their new stadium in the Tor di Valle area, and hope to lay the first stone in April or May.

That would, in theory, allow them to open the new ground for the 2020-21 season, and it appears the city will try to expedite the process.

“On February 24 we announced we’d work hard to get this sustainable project off the ground,” Raggi told ANSA.

“It will redevelop that part of the city and bring new jobs. We’re working to conclude all the successive steps in a very short time.

“If the first stone is feasible in the spring, we’ll do everything to speed up the process as much as possible.”
