“I am very happy with the goal and that we won this match,” Rafinha reflected. “This is how we need to continue.

“My last goal came months ago. At the moment I scored, I thought firstly about passing the ball to Candreva.

“But the defender covered the line of the pass, so I shot instead.

“We knew it was going to be a difficult match, but we gave everything. We want to win the last matches as well.”

Asked about his future beyond the end of the season, Rafinha said it is out of his hands but is hopeful a deal can be done between Inter and Barca.

“Staying here doesn’t depend on me, but I want to do it. Inter is in my head.

“I am happy in Italy. I have adapted quickly, I am very happy to play here with my teammates who have helped me a lot.

“What the fans here at Inter have given me is incredible. I am really happy to be here.”
